Baltoro Glacier

Baltoro Glacier is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, 63km in length this mountain glacier is one of the longest glaciers in the world outside polar regions. This glacier is famous amongst adventurers who love trekking or hiking. This glacier can be trekked from several points to reach Concordia and K2 base camp. 

 

 

Baltoro Muztagh range is home to 4 of the world’s highest mountains, one of the most famous is K2, 8,611 meters, in the Karakoram range. Many magical glaciers like Yermandendu, Gasherbrum glaciers, Godwin-Austen glaciers, and Vigne glaciers merge to form Baltoro.

 

 

The most beautiful part of Baltoro is the lower part where you can see the granite towers, famous ones are Trangos, Uli Biaho, and several other peaks of cathedrals. You might need permission to trek the glacier and the other areas surrounding it. Your trek on this glacier can go on for days depending on your destination, the starting point of your trek will be from Askole village.

 

 

Trekking to Concordia is recommended if you want to have a mesmerizing experience with gorgeous views of the snow-capped peaks. The best months for you to trek the Karakoram range are from May to September.
